In 2009 – 2010 I made two journeys to India, during the first I painted at the ancient site of Hampi in Karnataka and in the Lodhi Gardens in Delhi. On the second painting journey, I based myself in the village of Narlai in Rajastan where the community welcomed me with great friendliness.
“Auriol vividly portrays the strange combination of serenity and ceaseless activity which characterise so much life in India. Her paintings encapsulate the colour and vitality of a community which is, for better or for worse, on the cusp of irreversible change, she has brought this community to life with energy skill and charm in this wonderful collection of paintings.”
Sir Richard Stagg KCMG, High Commissioner to India 2007-2011
